The Nashua Silver Knights hosted the New Britain Bees on Wednesday morning at Historic Holman Stadium in front of over 3,000 students for Education Day, dropping a close one, 2-1.
Nashua struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Max Forgione (St. Joseph’s) worked a walk and scored on a coordinated steal throw to second to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
New Britain tied it up in the third inning when Rafael Rodriguez Rosa (Franklin Pierce) scored on a wild pitch, and the Bees took the lead for good in the seventh on a George Slauson (St. Anselm) RBI single to score Kacin Robinson (Stonehill).
Cam Piwnicki (Brown) had a strong outing for the Knights, going 6 innings and allowing just 1 run on 2 hits. Jameson Dobis (Bryant) took the loss, allowing the go-ahead run in the seventh inning.
The Silver Knights were held to 5 hits on the day and left 8 runners on base, struggling to push runs across despite getting on base throughout the game.
The Silver Knights fall to 2-4 as the Bees improve to 5-1. Nashua hits the road tomorrow night to take on the Vermont Lake Monsters at 6:30 pm.
