June 12th: Knights lose 3-2 to Martha's Vineyard

The Silver Knights were on the road in Martha’s Vineyard to face the Sharks. This game came down to the wire with the tying run on first in the ninth that would be stranded. Both sides played a very defensive game, but the Sharks would come out on top three to two.

The bottom of the lineup brought a lot of the offense for the Silver Knights tonight. Number nine batter Dylan Jones led the way going two for three with an RBI single and was also hit by a pitch. Jones also had a great game behind the dish throwing out three Sharks at second. Jared Brescia went two for four and scored one run.

No one really stood out from the Sharks dugout, but seven out of the nine batters recorded a hit in this one. Kai Nelson was the lone Shark with two hits going two for three as the number nine batter. Most of the offense for the Sharks came right out of the gate in the first inning. A lead off walk by Matt Chamberlain and a double by Tate Kolwyck would put runners at second and third, then a single by Jackson Raper would score them both.

Manny Ray got the start for the Silver Knights and went four innings allowing three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out two. Nick Couhig then came into the game and went an inning and two thirds only allowing one hit. Joe Grassett came in after with two outs in the sixth and went an inning and a third only allowing a hit and a walk. Derek Duffy pitched the eighth and struck out the side in a one-two-three inning.

Dalton Ponce gets the start for the Sharks and went seven innings allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out three. Matt Goehrig then took the bump in the eighth and closed out the game with a walk and two strikeouts
